Sello Ernest Mmakau

CEO Afrocentric Technologies

Sello has over 19 years of experience in the IT industry. He worked in Health, Chemical, Aviation, Telecommunication, Non-Financial sectors and Government. An experienced IT executive, he sits on a number of Boards including AfroCentric Investment Corporation, Medscheme, Allegra, CareConnect and Afrocentric Technologies. In 2012/13, he was voted SA Visionary CIO of the Year by Gartner, GIBS and IITPSA. He was a runner up for the Visionary CIO of the Year in 2017. He joined Afrocentric Group in 2016 as a Non Independent Executive Director. He became Afrocentric Technologies CEO in 2018 and the Group Chief Technology Director for Afrocentric Investment Corporation. He holds BCOM, BA Honours, MBL and PMP qualifications.

Sibusiso Walter Mhlongo

Executive Manager, IT Operations

After completing his National Diploma from Tshwane University of Technology and Telkom College, Walter worked for a number of companies in Africa, Europe and Asia. These included IBM, The Coca-Cola Company, Vodacom, Safaricom Kenya, Essar Telecom Kenya, Roshan Kabul and Ananda Myanmar, Liberty Life, Standard Bank and Clickatell. Walter has held various technical, project management, and management positions up to C-Level at these institutions. Additionally, he holds an IBM Professional Certification and is currently pursuing his MBA with Radford University.

Douglas Mamba

Executive Manager: Digital Innovation

After completing his undergraduate degree, Douglas spent 14 years consulting for private and public sector companies in the Telecommunications, Financial Services, FMCG, and Mining & Resources sectors. He spearheaded strategy development, transformation & turnarounds and pivoting to digital for these companies. After 9 years working in FMCG, Douglas chose to pursue his MBA at Wits Business School.

Paul Phiri

General Manager, Technology Projects

Paul possesses over 25 years of experience in information technology and engineering in healthcare, aviation, transportation, energy, oil and gas, mining and financial services industries. He has worked for a variety of companies including Airports Company SA, Queensland Energy, ABB Enterprise Software, Sasol, First National Bank and Harmony Gold. He joined AfroCentric Technologies in April 2019 as General Manager, Technology Projects. Paul holds a BEng, mechanical engineering (Southampton University), MBA and Master's degree in project management (Southern Queensland University) and is a Project Management Professional (PMI).

Joe Mabilo

General Manager: Software Development

Prior to joining Afrocentric Technologies in 2015, Joe gained experience with category-leading brands spanning retail, telecoms, FMCG and transport industries. He is passionate about developing, coaching and mentoring others. Joe holds an MBA from Gordon’s Institute of Business.

Corné Language

General Manager: ICT Operations

Corné Language is client service and contact centre manager at heart, with more than 20 years of experience. Corné managed client services in medical aids for 7 years before starting a career in IT as a General Manager of ICT Operations. She has completed various ITIL version 3 exams and is the driving force of service management at AfroCentric Technologies.

Gavin Viljoen

General Manager: IT Managed Healthcare

Gavin’s journey at AfroCentric started in the early 2000s when Medscheme Holdings acquired Sanlam Health. Appointed as the General Manager of Managed Care systems at AfroCentric Technologies in January 2013, his position later extended to include management of data warehouse, web and integration teams. Gavin holds an Honours Diploma in Computer Data Programming (B.Tech) from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology; and a Diploma in Project Management from FTI.
